About Our Procedure
The ReShape intragastric balloon is placed using a simple, non-invasive procedure. The balloons are inserted through the mouth and delivered to the stomach using the ReShape delivery system and an endoscope for guidance. Once in the stomach, the balloons are inflated with saline using the delivery system ports. The delivery system is removed, leaving the ReShape device in place in the stomach. The ReShape intragastric balloons remain in place for six months, allowing the patient to resume their typical activities, with a full stomach. After six months, the balloons are deflated and removed through the mouth using another endoscopically guided procedure.
The design intent is for the ReShape device to be placed and removed under conscious sedation. The product is designed to minimize anesthesia and length of hospital stay. The ReShape intragastric balloon is currently being utilized in clinical investigations outside the United States.
