  • Bill Murray – President & Chief Executive Officer
  • Bill has over 25 years of experience in the Medical Device and Life Science areas. He is currently the President and CEO of ReShape Medical, Inc. a development stage company focused on non-surgical therapy for the treatment of obesity. Prior to ReShape, Bill was President of the Molecular Biology Division at Applied Biosystems (Life Science tools for genetic analysis), and Group President Respiratory Technologies at Viasys Healthcare. For 18 years, Bill worked in various senior executive and general management positions at Medtronic, including President of the Pacing Business, the EP Systems Business, and the Functional Diagnostic Business. Prior to running these businesses, he had responsibility for manufacturing, development and project management of a number of implantable pacing systems. Bill holds a BSEE from the University of Florida and currently serves on the Boards of MTS Systems and ReShape Medical.
  • Sue Petrella – Vice President of Marketing & Sales
  • Ms. Petrella is a commercialization expert with over 20 years of medical device experience. She has held a number of General Manager and Sales & Marketing leadership positions within Allergan Medical, Johnson & Johnson Healthcare Systems, Biosense Webster, ETHICON, Ethicon Endo-Surgery, CardioVations, and Procter & Gamble. Her extensive experience with sales teams, marketing, project management, national accounts, contract negotiation, professional education, distribution, and organizational development have allowed her to contribute on all levels as a strategic driver of business results. Ms. Petrella holds a Bachelor of Science, Business Administration from Villanova University, where she is a board member of Villanova Business School’s Center for Marketing and Public Policy and serves as commercial advisor to EpiEP, an EP medical device start-up.
  • Mark Ashby – Vice President of Research & Development
  • Mr. Ashby has 25 years of hands-on research, product development, process development, and senior management experience.  Prior to ReShape Medical, Mr. Ashby served as Vice President of R&D for Sub-Q Inc. for seven years, leading the company through 5 device generations and managing all aspects of development from research feasibility to market evaluation.  Mr. Ashby also held a variety of leadership positions during seven years with Applied Medical Resources, ultimately serving as Vice President & General Manager of the Vascular Division. Mr. Ashby founded his own consulting firm, providing strategic product development, IP strategy & diligence, and litigation support to a variety of companies.  Mr. Ashby holds over 37 US patents and received a Bachelor of Science, Mechanical Engineering (with Distinction) from California State University, Long Beach.
  • John Riolo - Vice President of Regulatory Affairs & Quality Assurance
  • Mr. Riolo has 24 years of experience in Regulatory Affairs, Quality Assurance and Engineering. Prior to joining ReShape Medical, Mr. Riolo served as Vice President of RA/QA/CA at Alsius Corporation, an intravascular temperature management company. John served as Vice President of Quality Assurance at DexCom, Inc., which develops glucose monitoring technologies for diabetes. He served as President of MicroMed Laboratories and Consulting Services, a subsidiary of Oculus Innovative Sciences, Inc., where he was responsible for all operational and business development activities relating to Regulatory Affairs, Quality Assurance and Clinical Affairs consulting, as well as microbiological testing services. Mr. Riolo served as Vice President of Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance for the Peripheral and AAA Division of Medtronic Vascular, Inc., a manufacturer of balloon catheters, stents and stent grafts for the treatment of vascular diseases and abdominal Aortic aneurisms. Mr. Riolo holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from California State Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo.
